With so many great things happening each year at the Union County Fairgrounds, we have many curious people messaging us with questions. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding the Union County Fairgrounds and the Union County Fair.
Q: How much does it cost to get into the Union County Fair?
A: We pride ourselves in offering a FREE fair to all who attend. The only events that require admission are the grandstand events.
Q: How much do the grandstand events cost?
A: Ages 0-5 - Free.
6-17 - $5.
18 years and older - $10.
Q: How do I register my child for Mutton Bustin'?
A: There is no pre-registration for Mutton Bustin'. Please arrive before 5:30pm on Monday and Tuesday nights of the fair (July 24 & 25) to enter your child's name in a hat. Names will be drawn based on the number of sheep we have. There is no age limit, but, in the interest of our animals, the weight limit is 60lbs. Event will begin at 6:00pm. Names not drawn on Monday will not carry over to Tuesday's event/drawing. If your child's name is not drawn on Monday, try again on Tuesday!
Q: What is the Premier Livestock Showmanship Contest?
A: The Premier Livestock Showmanship Contest will show us the best, all around showman in Union County.
Q: What events will be livestreamed?
A: There will be no live-stream this year for the Union County Fair events.
Q: When is Kids Day?
A: Kids Day at the Union County Fair is Saturday, July 22nd from 8:00am-2:00pm, in the Activity Zone and Fun Zone (near the 4-H Building). A big thank you to our friends at Greater Regional Health for sponsoring this event!
Q: When is Senior Citizen's Day?
A: Senior Citizens Day at the Union County Fair is Monday, July 25th, beginning at 8:30am in the 4-H Building.

Q: What is the Premier Livestock Showmanship Contest?
A: The Premier Livestock Showmanship Contest will show us the best, all around showman in Union County.
- To qualify, contestants must win the Senior or Elite Showmanship Classes in the 2023 Beef, Sheep, Goat, or Swine shows. These champions will show one of each animal in this contest: cattle, sheep, goat, & swine.
- Each species committee will choose an animal of their respective species for these contestants to show. Equipment to show will also be provided by the species committees.
- Judges specific to the species being shown will judge each portion of this contest. The winner will be decided by a collective vote amongst the hired judges.
- Contestants are asked to wear typical show clothes - 4-H/FFA t-shirt, jeans, and protective footwear.
- Showmen are asked to arrive at the ISSB Show Arena at 5:00pm for the contest at 5:30pm.
