BOOK MY EVENT

What kind of events can I book?

Throughout the last 4 years since we've renovated, we've hosted a wide variety of events - from community gatherings, livestock shows, fundraisers, meetings, and more. Want to see for yourself? Check out these stories!

2021 East union prom

brown/walsh Wedding

Students were invited to enjoy a night of fun and games at the 2019 East Union Prom, held in the Iowa State Savings Bank building. Karah Kirkland (Class of '22) explains how much FUN she and her friends had.
"We really used the whole thing - the "show arena" part for the dance and dinner, and the area where we keep pigs, sheep, and goats for After Prom. It was just as fun as it was in the gym!"

Patrick & Jordyn (Walsh) Brown were married in August 2019. They chose the fairgrounds because they knew they needed a local spot with a lot of space. And that's what they got!
"We could get into the area whenever we wanted and I could do literally anything I wanted, design-wise, to decorate it. There was a lot of room and everyone loved how open it was. And I loved how we were also able to camp there!"

"honor the tradition" show

Honor The Tradition - Payton Glynn Memorial Show is an IJBBA Sanctioned Beef Show held at our fairgrounds. This show pays tribute to Payton Glynn - who was an active member of the livestock show family. For the past 3 years, a cattle show is held in his memory. In 2021, 375 calves were shown over the course of two days. Also starting in 2021, the first annual Honor The Tradition pig show was held at the fairgrounds. Our facility is more than capable to accommodate this event, as well as other large livestock shows held throughout the year.

running on tradition

The Running on Tradition 5K and Mud Run is a fundraiser held each year with all the proceeds going to the Union County Fairgrounds. Community members gather to run through the city of Afton, ending with a muddy obstacle course throughout the fairgrounds. Race directors, Josie Travis, Halle Evans, and Karah Kirkland are hard at work planning this year's run. It's sure to be a fun, messy event for the whole family to enjoy!
