Our 2023 Union County Fair Queen is Marcey Bailey. 1st Runner Up is Haylee Gillam, and 2nd Runner Up is Keegan Bailey. Our 2023 Union County Fair Princess is Blakely Wardenburg. 1st Runner Up is Wylee McFarland, and 2nd Runner Up is Hattie Wulf.
The most important title of the fair is the title of Union County Fair Queen and Princess. These ladies represent not just the fair, but the entire county when they wear the sash and crown of a true queen. Applicants of the queen contest must be female residents of Union County or an adjoining county if most of her activities are in Union County, never been married, an active member of at least one service organization in her county (ex. FFA, FBLA, church group, or 4H), and between the ages of 16 and 21 as of August 10th (the first day of the 2023 Iowa State Fair). Applicants of the princess contest must also be female residents of Union County or an adjoining county if most of her activities are in Union County, between 6 and 8-years-old as of July 20th (the first day of the 2023 Union County Fair).
All applications for both Queen and Princess contestants must be returned to Amy Rieck no later than June 10th, 2023. Judging for both competitions will be held during the afternoon of Sunday, July 16th, and coronation will be held on Thursday, July 20th, at the Union County Fairgrounds in Afton, Iowa.
