The most important title of the fair is the title of Union County Fair Queen and Princess. These ladies represent not just the fair, but the entire county when they wear the sash and crown of a true queen.
Applicants of the queen contest must be female residents of Union County or an adjoining county if most of her activities are in Union County, never been married, an active member of at least one service organization in her county (ex. FFA, FBLA, church group, or 4H), and between the ages of 16 and 21 as of August 7th (the first day of the 2025 Iowa State Fair).
Applicants of the princess contest must also be female residents of Union County or an adjoining county if most of her activities are in Union County, between 6 and 8-years-old as of July 17th (the first day of the 2025 Union County Fair). 
All applications for both Queen and Princess contestants must be returned to Megan Floyd no later than June 20th, 2025. Contestants must reside in Union County and be available for judging on July 12, 2025. Additional information regarding more details of the contests & documents that need to be completed, as well as where to send the applications, can be found by clicking the application link above. 
The 2025 Union County Fair Queen & Princess will reign over the events at the Union County Fairgrounds from July 17th-23rd, 2025. The 2025 Union County Fair Queen will represent Union County at the 2025 Iowa State Fair Queen contest in Des Moines, Iowa, at the 2025 Iowa State Fair.
An organization, church, business, or individual must sponsor each candidate. Entry fee is $25 for queen candidates and $10 for princess candidates. This must be paid by the sponsor at the time of the entry.

Our 2025 Union County Fair Queen is Annalise Buxton. 1st Runner Up is Ivy Eklund, and 2nd Runner Up is Brynn Tussey. Our 2025 Union County Fair Princess is Wylee McFarland. 1st Runner Up is Holly Dunphy, and 2nd Runner Up is Landry Carlton.​
We're so proud of the ladies who wear, will wear, and have worn the title of Union County Fair Queen & Princess. In 2024, we celebrated 60 years of Union County Fair Queens with a Royal Reunion. Many of our previous queens enjoy attending the Union County Fair each year, and were delighted to adorn their crowns & sashes once last time.
